Comic-Con 2011 Loses Studios

Earlier this year I purchased two tickets for Comic-Con in San Diego.  My wife and I were excited to go to visit San Diego, and take part in the greatest nerd gathering in the U.S.  In May I begrudgingly refunded my tickets, since one our cars ceased to function.  I was saddened by the thought of not being able to see all the previews, special screenings, and actors.

It appears I won’t be missing nearly as much as I thought.  Four major studios have pulled out of Comic-Con 2011, citing millions of dollar lost in the promotion of films that subsequently flopped at the box office.  The studios who have officially backed out are Disney, Dreamworks, Warner Bros., and The Weinstein Company.

No word yet on the Avengers, but Marvel fans will get a taste of the Spiderman film due out in 2012.

Stay tuned for more updates.
