It’s been sixteen years coming, but the FBI finally caught up to James “Whitey” Bulger this week. Why not celebrate the capture of one of America’s most infamous fugitives by watching (or re-watching) Martin Scorsese’s superb minor-masterpiece The Departed? We have to wonder now that Whitey’s been caught if Scorsese will return to it a la George Lucas and digitally “retouch” the ending. Or maybe we can finally get that Mark Whalberg-driven sequel that’s been in the works since . . . oh, forever?
A movie snob can dream.
