Over the years many people have made some good attempts at updating various Shakespeare plays. The end result is often something like the 1999 version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream where it was updated slightly to be some time in the early 20th century (there were bicycles!!) or Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet where the events take place in present day America (maybe America, either way some Miami-looking city).
Well it looks like Ralph Feinnes will be bringing William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Coriolanus to present day, putting the character on the front lines of a middle-east style battlefront.
Ralph Feinnes will be directing and starring in the film which also stars Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox.
Check out the trailer below:
Coriolanus is the story about a war hero who comes home and is pushed to get into politics, he eventually gets banished from the city and ends up teaming up with his sworn enemy to take out the ones who banished him, and then some.
