Portal short film has some awesome potential

I’m going to take a wild guess and presume that if you are reading this, you have probably heard of Portal. Yes? The Valve game involving one of the most awesome weapons ever created, the ASHPD (the portal gun).

The idea of a portal gun is so awesome. In the game it made for such a different experience than anything else you might play, so you can imagine that a filmed version of Portal could be pretty crazy as well.

Well young film-fan-turned-filmmaker, Dan Trachtenberg, has done just that. Check out his short film below, the music for it was done by Mike Zarin, the guy who did the music for the awesome first Inception trailer.

I would love to see a full-film version of this short, something with very little dialog just like the games. You could easily work with the plot from the second game for inspiration. Theres plenty of dark humor in that and the first game to make for a pretty surprising film.

Here’s hoping that some people with lots of money ask Dan Trachtenberg to make a full-length Portal film!

I would also love to see much more creative use of a portal fun in a film. But all together an extremely well-made short!
