For a while now the Muppets have been exposed to some really bad movies with sub-par writing and quick pop-culture gimmicks.
The last vaguely decent-ish Muppets movie the world has seen was Muppets in Space (back in 1999), and that still didn’t beat the classic late 70’s and 80’s Muppets movies. After Muppets in Space, the Muppets were forced into submission by ABC, generating an awful pop-culture filled mess titles “It’s a Very Muppet Christmas Movie” and the only slightly better but still bad follow up, “The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz”.
Thankfully after 2005 ABC stopped forcing the Muppets into crappy tv movies.
Now we get to look forward to a REAL muppets movie again! I wont hold this movie too high as of yet, but I think it’s a good sign that Jason Segel is writing the movie and starring. He wrote and starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, a good and quite funny movie that also happened to have puppets of some kind…
Perhaps Segel has a thing for muppets, so he might be the perfect person to write what essentially seems like a Muppet Reboot (simply titled “The Muppets”).
Well they have been releasing alot of parody trailers for the movie, theres one parodying the Hangover Part 2 as well as one for Green Lantern. Well FINALLY after some pretty funny parody trailers, Disney has released a real “serious” trailer for the movie:
Also, if anyone missed the Green Lantern one or the Hangover one here they are:
Green Froggy:
The Fuzzy Pack:
It’s great to see the Muppets returning to the style of their glory days, a la “The Muppet Movie” and “The Great Muppet Caper.” Also, be sure to keep us posted on any news of Jason Segel’s Dracula musical!
