There was some HUGE news last Sunday coming out of the MTV VMA’s. Or not. Well I’m sure everyone has heard by now that the Beyonce and Jay Z will be having a baby. Soon we will all have to deal with a tiny Beyonce or Jay Z rapping or singing simply because they are the child of highly successful music stars.
The other thing that came out of the VMA’s, even though it’s in now way Video Music-related, is the first teaser for The Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games is based on the book trilogy of the same name. The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence (the new Mystique from X-Men First Class), Josh Hutcherson (the douchy friend from Vampires Assistant) and Liam Hemsworth (Thor’s younger brother).
Check out the less than interesting trailer below:
What did you think? A little bit interesting maybe?
It feels like they just filmed a scene or two and decided they would just make that once scene into a trailer. Unfortunately it’s not enough to really interest anyone.
If you are new to The Hunger Games then this trailer is just confusing. Why is there magic fire all around this girl in a forest? Is that guy talking about her murdering people, or trying to be the best burlesque dancer she can be? Listen to him again. Our of context it sounds well.. weird.
The Hunger Games is about a future United States split into 12 Districts. Every year each district picks two teenagers to compete together in a battle to the death. 24 people go in, 1 comes out. So it’s Battle Royale except it makes slightly more sense.
I’m hoping there is a bit more to see from future trailers for this movie. I liked the books and would hate to see yet another book-to-movie made poorly.
They are also banking on this movie making well.. bank. They have planned for a trilogy, but thanks to Harry Potter‘s precedence, they now want to make the final book into TWO films because well… they want to make more money.
Personally it seems a bit odd to try and fit the third book in The Hunger Games Trilogy into two films. There just isn’t enough information to pull into two movies. The books are fairly short as it is, and the third one is no exception.
Here’s hoping this movie is well made and not just some uninspiring scenes of Katniss running from fire.
Two movies for Mockingjay?! Seriously? The third book is the exact same length as the previous two; splitting it into two movies makes absolutely no sense. Honestly though, I’m not at all disappointed with the teaser to The Hunger Games. Jennifer Lawrence really appears to be a great choice for Katniss.
