The first Hobbit trailer arrives!

Later this week audiences seeing Tin Tin will get to see the first trailer for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. Luckily for everyone else in the world, the trailer is now available via Apple Trailers.

I’m personally glad to see some singing in the film. I know it sounds like an odd thing to say, seeing as it’s not a musical or anything, but that’s the one thing that was sorely missing from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

In book form, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings is filled with songs sung by every other character in the books. Aragorn sings, all the hobbits sing, and Gimli even sings something about ‘gold gold gold’.. maybe not the last one.

You could easily make the argument that it’s easier to write singing then to show characters doing it in a non-musical-film. That is probably quite true, and it might have made the films an hour longer each, but I still wouldn’t have minded hearing a bit more Middle-earth-melodies.

Here’s hoping there’ll be a bit of singin’ in The Hobbit.
